Limp mode (reduced power mode) is triggered by the ECU when a fault is detected that could damage the engine or transmission if normal power is continued. Common causes: boost leak, low oil pressure, transmission fault, or throttle body failure. Fault codes stored at the time of entry must be read immediately.
A severely restricted air filter reduces airflow causing lean running and power loss. For turbocharged engines with MAF sensors, a dirty filter also introduces measurement error. Replace annually or every 15,000 km in Dubai’s dusty environment.
Temperature-sensitive power loss often indicates a failing turbocharger (heat soak on bearings), an intermittent boost leak from a heat-softened hose, or a fuel pressure regulator that fails hot.
